Legal Help Directory
Despite COVID-19, most legal firms, victim assistance programs, and shelter programs are OPEN and can still help you over the phone, online, or chat!
People often have many different legal needs after a crime – finding safe housing, obtaining child support, or getting time off from work to go to court. NY Crime Victim Legal Help is an online resource to help victims of crime learn about their rights and connect them with resources.
If you are a victim of crime who lives in or has a civil legal problem in New York State but outside of New York City, our online directory can help you find information and assistance. You may be referred to a civil legal organization that can receive direct client referrals through this online resource. These organizations are Warm Referral Partners of the Crime Victims Legal Network, so connecting with them will be easier. We can’t guarantee that the warm referral partner organization can represent you, but they will help you find resources that you can use.
If you live in New York City or have a problem not listed in the Legal Help Directory, contact the New York State Bar Association or your local Bar Association or visit LawHelpNY.org.

Victims of crime have the right to call 9-1-1 and report the crime to the police. You do not have to report the crime to be considered a crime victim or to use the tools on this online resource.
